Creating Community Through an Appreciation of Difference.

The Ben Marion Institute For Social Justice seeks to promote behaviors that encourage an inclusive society where individuals and groups embrace differences and value kindness, authenticity, empathy, compassion, and fairness.

The Institute is a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit. By providing information, training, and resources for individuals and communities, the existence and evolution of social justice is encouraged.

At the core of The Ben Marion Institute is a firm understanding that functioning from an empathic orientation is essential to the presence and practice of social justice. To fully support this, The Institute offers specialized training curricula to individuals and groups to:

  • Identify, understand and work with the uniqueness of every individual;
  • Demonstrate and teach the how’s and why’s of respecting and appreciating differences,
    not judging them;
  • Address and neutralize biases and incidences of injustice.

Significant, authentic, enriching relationships that are essential for life; an environment where connection is encouraged and empathy is nurtured.

The Institute heartily embraces the premise that empathy can be developed and modeled. Our programs are specifically designed to:

  • Identify stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination;
  • Understand motives, feelings and behaviors as they relate to social injustice;
  • Develop insight and understanding of the condition of social injustice;
  • Recognize the value of learning from those different from oneself;
  • Explore the critical importance of being heard.

The creation of an environment of empathic orientation, a critical element to widely practiced compassion, acceptance and mutual celebration of wellbeing.
